WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — Major track work will wreak havoc on Metro passengers on nearly every line this weekend.
Single tracking, closed stations, bus shuttles from one station to another — beginning Friday night Metro will have all of it.
On the Red Line, shuttle buses will replace regular rail service between the Dupont Circle and Van Ness stations. Metro will close the Woodley Park and Cleveland Park stations.
During daytime hours, every other train originating from Dupont Circle will turn back at Silver Spring.
Metro urges customers to allow for additional 25 minutes of travel time if they must travel through the area.
On the Blue and Yellow Lines, trains will be single-tracked between the McPherson Square and Smithsonian stations.
On the Green Line, trains will be single-tracked between the Naylor Road and Branch Avenue stations.
On the Yellow Line, trains will operate between the Huntington and Mt. Vernon Square stations only. Customers traveling to and from stations north of the Mt. Vernon Square stations must use the Green Line.
Metro urges customers to allow 10-15 minutes of additional travel time this weekend.
Normal service should resume in time for Monday morning’s rush hour.
